The hubby "ordered" traditional flavour today... used canned stew ribs instead of trotters can.

Steamed Fish "soup"
A HUGE slice of grouper fish given by MIL... its slightly bigger then my plam... B'coz Mr sim is wrking late... i divided it into 2 portion so that he won't have over cooked fish when he is home...
Lay with some ginger & white part of the spring onions to get rid of the fishy smell..
Topped with
Salted veg,
Fresh mushroom,
Egg Tou Foo,
Tomato,
1 cup of water to make the "soup"
A lil seasoning of sesame oil & salt
Hua Diao Jiu ( Optional)
I made it into a soupy dish so that it will become a one dish meal..

Rough Guide to 梅菜扣肉
What you need:
Meat of your choice... It be can chicken/Pork/Duck
Today i decided to use Pork Belly...
A bundle each of
Alots of people told me ITS SUPER HARD TO GET it clean... esp they will ate on sand like particles..
mmmm i tink i knew the reason behind it..
They directly soaked it.. so dat is why..
How to get rid of it???
For me... i will wash it 3 times to wash off the salt used to preserve the veg..
After that soak it for 30min... Cut it..
Then washed and drain off the water..
I forgotten GARLIC... yeap roughly a bulb of it.. with skins leave on...
I cooked the pork belly till its cooked so that
1. can get rid of the dirt
2. Easy to stew/steam it..
I do know of some people prefer to deep fried it as well BUT alots of work.. haha definately NOT a must for me..
After that... sliced it when its amost cool...

Hakka dish: Mei Cai Kou Rou / 梅菜扣肉
I had been tinking of this dish since preggy.. ate it once @ granny place..
Decided its time to make my own... THis time decided to change to the belly pork which is the most original dish that hakka cooked.
I didn't used much seasoning caused i decided to cook more and its already very rich in flavour on its own... and keeping it means it will get richer in taste as the day passed...
Enjoying my Mei cai with congee today... WOW... i managed to eat 2 bowls of congee which i hardly felt like eating more then 1/2 a bowl nowsaday... always bloated even when i dun eat anything...super hard to resist it...

Hong Kong Style Instant Noodles
All thanks to Bro's for sending me picture of his Hongkong style instant maggi mee which they added abalone when we are having dinner outside with my parents...
we all had a good laugh when dad said me, where they went for dinner...
I decided to imitate Hong Kong Cafe style of instant noodle. Seriously I find those sold in the cafe are way overpriced instant noodles... For a bowl of such noodles.. am really not interested to pay $8 or more for it when i can juz do it @ home...
So i suggested to Mr sim, my version..
Lol yeap no Abalone coz i doesn't fancy such thing.. * how fortunate* Mr sim is.. can save alots when his wife doesn't eat such expensive stuffs.. haha
