fried kangkong with yong tou foo

Dad used to buy yong tou foo and asked mum to add into the kang kong. Actually Mr sim requested for sweet potato leaves but i didn't manage to buy it so decided to cook this... b'coz i am not able to take dry shrimps.. i cooked my own version with my homemade chilli.. with chilli padi...

Potato chicken stew

Decided to make use of the deep fryer since i intend to keep it soon. Made potato with chicken... slightly deep fried both the potato n chicken then stew it.. yummy...

Cranberry Beans(珍珠豆)

Honestly its until day, i know the english name for these beans are called cranberry bean... since young, i only know we called it 珍珠豆 cause dad told us it look like pearl. Did a search online and realised it had an english name..

Cranberry bean are sweet and nutty and can be used to make a good soup be it using it with ribs or adding in other fruit to make it richer in taste.

I can't resist but to grab some home when i saw these beautiful beans laying around at the vegetable stall that i use to get my veg. I added in some lotus to enhance its favour.
It does tasted like peanut soup due to its nutty taste.

Mr sim gave a SMILE after drinking it... well of cause.... He can't resist "老火汤“ which had been simmer for 3hrs.

Grass jelly (仙草)

Grass jelly is made by boiling the aged and slightly oxidized stalks and leaves of Mesona chinensis[1] (member of the mint family) with potassium carbonate for several hours with a little starch and then cooling the liquid to a jelly-like consistency[2]. This jelly can be cut into cubes or other forms, and then mixed with syrup to produce a drink or dessert thought to have cooling (yin) properties, which makes it typically consumed during hot weather. The jelly itself has a slight bitter taste, a light iodine lavender flavor, and is a translucent black. It can also be mixed with soy milk to produce a milky white liquid with black strands in it.

I got a palm size grass jelly from the market stall. Love the fresh ones then those sold in supermarket which are sweeten with sugar. Fresh one & well made ones always had this bitter sweet after taste.
I served mine with some pandan sugar syrup. i perfer mine icy and not so sweet.
